M505 to Motorola Timeport
Anyone connecting a M505 to a Motorola Timeport? I'd like to beam entries from my address book across the cell phone but no luck.
Is this possible?

Thanks Fido. This sounds like the most sensible solution so far. I/R communication (apart from email and web access) does not seem to work between the Palm and the Motorola Timeports.

I just bought a Timeport 270c and the infrared port on it cannot be used.
One of the main reason I chose this phone, is the possibility to use a Bluetooth (wireless) connection with my M515!
Looks like some are already using this and find it great.
I have connected both "gadgets" with wires and found the "free" TrueSync from Yahoo!
I had to figure out how to make it work, but IT DOES!!!
Nice to be able to transfer Names & numbers on the phone without having to type it all.

Motorola Timeport 250
Hi
Well I'm on my 2nd Timeport (now a T250) and have always been able to use the infrared with my Palm. I've used the TrueSync software which allowed me to set up names & telephone numbers which I then synced with Outlook, which then synced with my Palm and I've got a Sim Card folder in Outlook just for this purpose!
Don't know if this helps at all, but the main point is that you CAN use IR with the Timeport and the Palm!

Really Chris?
This is great news!!!
Would you mind telling how you managed to get the Timeport and the Palm to communicate through the IR?
It would be really great!
So far, I've been told by my cell provider that it can't be used.
I'd love to prove them wrong.
I have looked in both the User Manual and the Reference Guide and could not find any instructions or tips on how to use the IR port on the 270c.
Thanks,
Andr

The IR works with SMS, dialling from phonebook and surfing.
Original question was/is:
How can I beam entries from my address book to the Timeport? When I try, it y says on my 505: Handheld not found.
Does the solution require software?

I also have a Motorola Timeport 270c cell phone and I would like to try its IR communications, both with my Palm m515 and with the IR port on my Macintosh notebook.
There is obviously an IR port on the top of the 270c, but there is absolutely no reference to it in the 270c user manual. Also, the Motorola web site is silent on this issue.
I have had no luck so far in getting the 270c to respond to any IR input and I am very much interested in hearing from anyone who has made progress in this.

Skimmer,
unfortunately for us (!!!)
there is no IR in the 270c.
The only thing at the tip of this phone is the red transparent plastic window - all that remains from an previous intention from Motorola to include IR in the TimePort 270c. It didn't make it in the final design.
This is why no mention of IR can be found about this phone.
This is what I learned from another fellow who spent many hours inquiring about it.
Now, would it be nice to be able to add it in ourself?
