Unhappy Palm Desktop not opening--HELP--should I reinstall?

I am receiving an error message:

"Failed to open Address Book Database."

When I click "OK," I receive an "illegal operation and will be shut down" message.

Should I reinstall Palm OS over it? Will I lose my hundreds of addresses, phone numbers, appointments, documents, etc. ad nauseam?

I did synchronize my Palm M105 earlier today, and it has a couple of hours, minimum, of battery power still left on it. Am I safe in relying on that to reinstall everything on the Desktop?

Any late night help would be especially appreciated, as I'm going out of town tomorrow.

FWIW (and use this at your own risk), the problem was solved rather easily, so I thought I'd just post it.

I renamed the C:\Palm\username\address.dat file. I then clicked on the desktop, and it reopened--without any address files.

I made sure the hotsync was set to handheld overwrites desktop for address book, and then synchronized.

    Boom, everything's back.

Sorry to clog the forum, but thought you'd like to know of a pretty easy solution to my problem. Hope it helps someone else.
