Now that I have it working again...
...I'm trying to figure out what I should do with it (m105). I'm an IT admin, but have never owned a PDA. This one was given to me because I have a bad habit of fixing up other people's 'junk' and re-utilizing it.
By default, I'm a systems admin, 50% linux/unix, 25% network, 25% windows. I don't travel much, but I do have trouble keeping track of dates (or so my wife tells me). I don't use outlook - I'm kind of partial to mozilla - so syncing with a calendar isn't necessary.
I'd like to run a linux shell on it, but it doesn't appear that it's a very stable platform at this point. I guess that I'll use this for a standalone date book and use it to play some games occasionally.
Any other ideas?

For calendaring, contacts management, todo management and list management this thing is still way cool.
Checkout www.freewarepalm.com for other applications to install (make sure they are OS3 compatible).
This thing can run on 2 AAA cells for WEEKS ! Try that with any other current PDA
Almost like use CLI (for those not knowing: cmd line interface)

You could store your Passwords for your systems, with third party apps like YAPS, or KEYRING.
You could employ Memo Pad for details on your servers, routers, equipment inventory.
There some IT designed input apps, for IPs and other items, a search may reveal.
Depending on IT function, there may be other special apps as well.Welcome to Brighthand

Re: Now that I have it working again...
Thanks for the info, guys (merci, holvoetn)! I did locate a few things on freewarepalm.com and also found palmopensource.com. I found a few utilities that should work out nice (keyring, ip calculator, etc). I couldn't find a CLI, though. I did see one called CLIp, but the link was dead and google doesn't turn up anything.

Welcome to brighthand, briansrapier!
You can sync that m105 to windows AND unix boxes so your list of ip's or whatever could be literally every where you need it as well as on your pda. Of course the best way to make the data portable windows/unix is to avoid using one of those proprietary storage formats like yaps and just put the info in memo pad fields which can import/export in plain text format on windows, macos and linux. of course, keeping sensitive stuff in plain text on your pda means you must keep a close eye on the pda because if you lose it, you'll be changing passwords for days!-Jeff

theirs a linux app I've seen which will provide a "top" like dispaly vai the rs-232 and you could use it as a terminal for any boxes that don't have a KVM switch or terminal.

Re: Now that I have it working again...
copy the url of the CLIp application and do a search on web.archive.org as it might be archived, you could also do a tucows.com search on the main website and one on the web.archive.org website to see what old applications might work for you. I found some applications on webpages off the web archive site when the original site didn't exist no more and when google didn't help, however you might have to go to different dates to find it, worth a shot tho.
by the way the archive is great, use it when you go visit an old website with outdated links, just copy the link and input it into web.archive.org and take a look at it in action. by the way a quick link is http://web.archive.org/collections/web.html
that gets you to a quick page to search just the web pages part without all the main page graphics, etc..
