    Smile Quick Tour Blazer based?

    Hi

I noticed that the Quick Tour has the same Longggg startup time like Blazer on my LD. When displaying one of the images, it shows the image-not-loaded sort of blank rectangle for a split second and the main menu buttons appear like URLs. Is this version of QT based on Blazer or NF or something?

After launching QT, Blazer launches pretty fast too.

Sorry if this is hard to read, please tell me if it is.

What's a long start up time? I have a LifeDrive too, and Blazer start up for me is about 10 seconds (using 'one-one thousand, two-one thousand.... as the measure).

People love to dump on Blazer; but I find it adequate. Yes, it's antiquated compared to the latest Android and iPhone browsers; but it still works for me. I guess I'd be less generous if I were locked out of a lot of sites I normally use; but I'm not.

In fact, I've been using my LD more, because I like that it allows me to 'lock in' the single page function for articles, blogs, etc. on the NY Times; which makes me click the single page function EVERY TIME I view an article.

Sometimes Blazer takes a while to start up sometimes. In my experience, it happens occasionally.

Blazer is an adequate browser, not the best, but it gets the job done decently. (Sometimes it causes my touchscreen to stop functioning, no clue why)

I just cleaned out my LD, so it should be better.

Well, that's an inquiry I've never read before. At least in my Treo 680 the equivalent of Quick Tour (MyTreo) seems to be an app in its own right, not a sorta-html app that runs with Blazer in the background. But I reckon a variation could be done under such premise. I mean, that Quick Tour thingy is similar to a webpage all dotted with links and sub-webpages. No nonsense if they ever did it, don't you think so? AFAIR, in the LD era, a 3rd party developer that worked a lot with Palm created the Quick Tour / My Treo apps: BlueFish Wireless. And now that you point it out, this app really seems like a webpage running on some pretty basic browser.

Thanks, I remembered my Z71's QT was fancier with animations and such. I thought the LD's was a bit bland and eventually noticed the web-ish-ness.

On both of my Zire 71s, I moved the Quick Tour to the SD card via ZLauncher in order to reclaim the RAM space. Early OS5, and although the app had links embedded within itself to demonstrate features it didn't require any connectivity whatsoever in order to function. Indeed, the device had no browser/Internet capability.

Quick Tour on my TXs behaves no differently; self-contained app with progressive menu & no connectivity required.

I think you may be attributing a timing coincidence to something greater.

I meant the Z71 (and the T3's) was more animated and such.

The LD's is more of a web page. (Offline of course!)
