On my Jornada 545 all of a sudden the sound stopped working. It only works with the earphones now. When i press the space over the speaker very hard it starts to come out a little, but very messed up, and w/ lots of static. I didn't get the unit new, but rather from a friend (he never used it) who left to another country. So i don't have the reciept or the original buy date. So i can't call HP support.. I don't know what to do.. try taking it apart my self?

Try calling HP (970-635-1000) and explain the situation. I don't know if warranty passes beyond the original purchaser but the unit is otherwise still under warranty - at least until late April.

Thanks.. I called them.. They said they will take the unit and fix it. But i have no idea how long it will take (anyone knows?) or if they plan to fix it or replace it.. I would love for them to replace it, since its falling apart. The flip lid is coming apart, the rubber pieces on the sides are falling out. Screwes are falling out.. Or do they intend to fix all of those problems without replacement?

Just got my Jornada back from repair center. Well, not really. What I got back was a reconditioned unit with a new serial number. It looks brand new. Took 8 business days. Great service, I will buy HP next time too. Works great, restore (recommended by the service center to back up before sending unit) worked flawlessly and Voila! Back to my familiar system.
Now if the internet provider at work can get fixed I can resync everything to get current again!!!
