Questions on OS upgradability.

I've got an HP Hx4700. It is currently running WM 6 Classic. A friend of mine said i should upgrade it to WM6.1, as it's quicker, more stable, and has some new features.

The only problem is, i am completly and utterly confused by the concept of upgrading the OS of this thing. I've searched around, but i still have some questions:

1) I'm a Mac user. That is, my computer is a PPC based Mac (can't run windows). Is this a problem for me? I can sync my device without issue.

2) Am i likely to see a performance benefit?

3) Is WM6.1 the most recent / best OS the 4700 can run properly, or is there something better / more recent out there?

4) Is there a how-to guide anywhere? I can't seem to find a good set of instructions for doing this?
