Default Final Fantasy 7 on ppc

I just wanted to share. I was looking for a game to play on my 4705 and I tried Ancient Evil. I guess its an okay game, but I found http://fpsearm.psxfanatics.com/, which has a Play station emulator which allows you to play PS1 games on your pda. Its been years since I bought and played FF7 on the original play station. But with FPSEce, I am playing it on my 4705 . This verison plays a little slow, but according to the forums a new version is being tested. Right now I've played to levels, and it brings back memories (and its still fun!!!).

    Go Cloud, Cloud.

If you go to their website you will be able to see a compatability link to find out what games work. BTW, chrono cross? I played it, a masterpiece-no way. FF7, now that was a masterpiece.

Well, that depends. I personally found FF7 to be a good game, but far inferior to CC. CC had a fresh new battle system, superb music, good characters, and a great story. FF7 was easily the best FF (and no. 4 in my book after VProfile, Xenogears). Now that i have played nearly every translated/untranslated rpg on ps1/ps2, waiting for the next instalments.

PPl will have different tastes though, but anyway this isnt a discussion about games, so lets not get into it. Thanks for the tip about fpse compatibility.

One last thing. This being a 4700 forum, i assume most play it on that machine. So, how is the speed? I rather dislike the 4700 touchpad, does fpse have an onscreen Controller?

FF7 plays at full speed on my 4705. Fpsece, does have on screen controls when used in portait mode. However, when it is used in portait mode its difficult to read what the the charactors are saying. I find using fpsece in landscape mode is best for me. If used in landscape mode, the buttons have to be mapped out (takes all of 5 seconds). If you use it have fun, and good luck.

will probably have to buy the 1 gb sd-card though......

Does the pocketiso compression overtly slow down the game?

I found it awkward to use touchpad and on-screen buttons. What is the best key map configuration that worked for you?

Also, whichever button assigned as 'menu button' doesn't seem to bring it back into portrait mode.

    Thanks

First getting out of landscape mode is difficult. I sometimes have to repeatedly tap the screen to get out of landscape mode, and sometimes I simply reset my device after I've saved my game. This glitch should be fixed in the next version (I hope). It is ackward to play, but I play during a lunch break, or some other down time. I don't play for long period of time, usually up to the next save point. I am thinking of getting one of those new bluetooth gamepads. I wish I could find my old zeta gamepad. No matter how you configure your buttons it will be ackward. Remember its not a play station.

I seem to be having a problem with this, and I was hoping for some pointers. Here's what I've tried so far:

Fpsece is loaded on the 4705, and I have the ROM in place with the FF7 ISOs. However, after I start the emulator, the PSX ROM splash is shown, then the emulator exits to the fpse spash screen. I've tried to toggle the cpu mode, fast boot, etc. I've also tried compressed and uncompressed ISOs. No dice :S

Could you share your config so I can get this moving? Thanks!

    J
