Question Hx4800 vs Hx4700 Rumor post here

I just can't help it but feeling a bit unrelaxed..

As some sort of power user, medical physician, I use my pocketpc a lot as a reference tool and to keep up with my patient data (on the move).
But the amount of data displayed on the screen is not enough. So I want to make the switch to VGA. Don't care for size that much as I have big pockets and carry a 3850 without any pain.

    Said that..
I heard the "shark" guy speak of a rumor about a version of the 4700 with cam and 128mb..
Well.. I for one just hate it when I buy somthing that within a short time gets repleaced by a better version . I have some pretty good uses for a cam (photos of rashes or snapshots of X-ray pics).

So who of you has the same feeling and if any of this is true will wait for the release of the Hx 4800?

Any developments around this IPAQ 4800 please post here

My guess? yes HP will lease an hx4800 BUT that is not now, it will be in 3 or 6 months. The reason? most devices that compete the HX3800 either have more RAM or have a cam.

Well if you wait a bit after the hx4800, then HP is going to release it with a microhard drive, then another one after that with bendable screen, then anotherone with a built in dvd player .. .. .. .. ..

you get the idea? every few months HP releases new ipaq, there is no point waitting unless you know for sure a release date and that a device will match your needs.

you just buy now what suits you, then later on if someting better come along you sell on ebay and buy the new stuff. You can work out the momey that you will loose then and compare them in terms of having a VGA device for like 3-6 months eariler. Is is not worht if it is esentail to you?

    Dear Bros,

Just to clear up a few things:

    1) It is hx2700 not hx3700. Code name morpheus

    http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/hp.html

It is suppose to be another killer product other than hx4700. Rumors so far differ on the screen. Bro huangzhizhong had said that it is a VGA while others say other wise.

    2) Rumor of hx4800 is still well a rumor that is unconfirmed. However there is some indication that this might happen as look at the past for indication of the future. The h1910 then followed by h1930 and h1940. Then h5540 and then followed by h5550.

I totally agree with you Bro Paris. You are totally right, with time we would see pda like those in the show "Red Planet" Bendable screen. Arm mounted pda.......... So buy according to your needs. hx4700 suits my needs so far.

The final thing is the ability to pay. More features, more expensive.

    Well just me........

Thats not wat is realy bothering me.. Everybody knows the moment you buy a new processor harddrive it is old.. and better, faster and bigger stuff can be seen at the shops.

However as I pointed out, and as many have said.. why less mem and no cam.. oke I understand there are people who don't want a cam (jobwise).. so make two devices. thats my opinion.. and I have some patience to wait for this one..

remember I'm still using the 3850!

Great, that's all I need. Having to worry about the next HP when I don't even have the 4700 yet.

    Dear ipaqomon and JRB,

The thing is that technology moves very fast and there is no way for a general product to suit everyone unless it is customised. Hence till the day they give us the ability to customise our ppc then we are quite struck.

All consumers products that we can buy are outdated. You can bet your money on it that they have something else to be introduced soon.

    Dear macmania4u,

Cnet's hands are tied. They make money in quite a few ways which includes advertisement from companies. Hence if there is a NDA to sign, they signed it already. But this is not to say that they got no leverage as they are the biggest reviewer company around in the world.

Well.... just me....... again..... hee hee.....

    Hey Doc ipaqomon,

Have a look at the upcoming Loox 720. It might be the one for me to jump from my long iPaq loyalty (3650, 3670, 3850, 2215). I too want a camera, (the 720 even has a small flash) and the jog wheel on the side might be nice.
So, yea, I'm with you, but damn it's hard waiting for these things to be released and reviewed.

    Regards,
    Rand

Yea but if the Loox 720's only going to be sold in Europe (which I believe is true) for ?649 ($795.83 US), you'd be better off just waiting for the A730 BT+WiFi model for $250 less.

Loox = no go for me, now the ASUS i would go for since i respect ASUS big time from the pc. However it has a slower processor and less battery and even if it is smaller in height it is a lot more fat. So i will stick to the HX4700 for now.
