I was very excited when I first read about the ipaq Hx4700 PDA but when I realized it only had 64 M memory I was very disappointed. I have used ipaq 3764 for 3 years which has 64 M memory and this has been the biggest challenge. I need more memory. I can not understand why 3 years later they still have only 64 M memory. I know that it has 80 M flash but most of the programs do not work in flash memory. They want to be installed in main memory. I hope the Hx4800 is more than a rumor. I do not care for the camera, but I will wait until they make the Hx4700 with 128 M memory or more. I hope HP will read this and responsd quickly if they want me to upgrade.

All I can say about this is that we'll see where 3D acceleration goes for PPCs in the upcoming months won't we? And as far as hukuju and other hx470x users go I'm sure they'll have no trouble ditching and upgrading to the latest PPC with a 3D accelerator which, in the end, would prove hukuju (and probably lots of other users) technically wrong in the fact at what spec'ed PPC he'd rather have.Originally posted by Joef
Registered,
Since alot of what hukuju is doing is running game emulators then the benefits of the enhancements from a seperate graphics processor would be minimal at best because the program has to have been configured to use that power. Kinda like buying the latest ATI or NVIDIA cards to play solitare on your pc. they would not help that but it would help if he played games like Doom3 or any of the FPS games that do 3d rendering. Most emulators as far as I know, have to use a software approach to emulate graphics from another type of system and therefore are unaware of the extra capabilities of the onboard video, whether it be a PC or a PDA.
Just remebered that emulator makers for PCs are doing that but u have to have a pretty specifec video processor like a 3dfx card or use some kind of GL wrapper. Maybe someday when enhanced video on PDAs is more wide spread then things may get better with emulators and video on PDAs.

Bro Registered,
I would prefer to say that everyone is right and nobody is wrong. This is because we are buying according to our needs. Hence hx4700 is the in thing now. However there would always be better things that comes along. This is what that keeps us all employed as we all makes better things in our own respective field. I believe that this is the under the subject economics in school.
Well just me again.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but you say you'd rather have a pocket PC with just a 624Mhz processor than a pocket PC with a 520Mhz processor and a 2700G5 graphics accelerator? This is the way I interpreted what you said, am I wrong? You see how that works?Yes, you are right.

What is this power trip you need to feed????? This NEED to be RIGHT!!
At least that what seems to be the object of your posts, and increasing it in intensity as this thread 'goes' along. I started to say 'moves' along -- but it isn't 'moving'.
Once someone 'agrees to disagree' or otherwise gracefully acquiesces - its time to stop BAGGERING them.
Hukuju, I admire your restraint and graciousness. It was really starting to 'pain' when reading these posts as the thread got longer. I was hoping a moderator would eventually intervene.
Ron...

Re: Hx4800 vs Hx4700 Rumor post here
I'm in the same boat. I run around with a TPC and an Ipaq holstered. I use my PDA for reference material and syncing my calendar and contacts between home and work. I am going to buy the 4705 (5400 died/2year TAP) as soon as I can find it. I use a digital camera for X-Rays and MRI pics at work. I do wish the camera was integrated into the PDA. Have you looked at the HP 6315 phone. I think it integrates a camera but you have to have T-Mobile.Originally posted by ipaqomon
I just can't help it but feeling a bit unrelaxed..
As some sort of power user, medical physician, I use my pocketpc a lot as a reference tool and to keep up with my patient data (on the move).
But the amount of data displayed on the screen is not enough. So I want to make the switch to VGA. Don't care for size that much as I have big pockets and carry a 3850 without any pain.
Said that..
I heard the "shark" guy speak of a rumor about a version of the 4700 with cam and 128mb..
Well.. I for one just hate it when I buy somthing that within a short time gets repleaced by a better version
. I have some pretty good uses for a cam (photos of rashes or snapshots of X-ray pics).
So who of you has the same feeling and if any of this is true will wait for the release of the Hx 4800?
Any developments around this IPAQ 4800 please post here

Dear Bro Ron,
Please kindly take it easy. Life is full of trials. Bro Registered
is actually quite alright compared to the people i meet on work. Anyway, we are all entitled to our own views. I would even put Bro Registered in the nice category while you Bro Ron would be in the nicer people category.
Anyway, we are going to be happy owners of hx4700 soon. As long as we are happy with what we are getting, this is all that matters in this world isn't it.
My view is that we all pick our fights in life, I fight if I need to fight and when I do fight....... I would have to make sure that I crush all........... hee hee......joking.... we all just need more friends and enemies only if there is no other way.
World peace okay?
Bro Digital-Doc,
If you are really needing a camera then I would recommend A730 or Loox 720. However at around 1.3 MP, you are not really going to get good pictures. Think of it this way, camera phones in Japan are going at around 2 MP and they are not really happy with that too.
Hope that this helps.
