Default h54xx WM2003 SPB Benchmark results

Well, since the hype of the WM2003 upgrade is peaking, I figured I'd post some of my results that I got with a WM2003 upgraded 54xx.

Of course, the software came from SPB Software House. Anything with a black box in the Excel spreadsheet is something that I didn't run the test on. Comparison also includes h54xx PPC2002, h5555 WM2003, and h2215 WM2003.

    Note #1 - This is done on a h5455 that has a PXA250. The h5555 shown (which I own) uses a PXA255.

    Question Question

Is the 5455 faster then 5555 with ppc 2003 ? What do you think? For example do you guys think Hp will support an uppgrade for the 5455 next time a new os comes out?

If you look at the benchmarks, you can see that the 5555 clearly is faster than the 5455 with either WM2003 or PPC2002.

I dont think ANY of the orginal pocket pc 2000 pocket pc's got the 2k3 upgrade. I think you pretty much will only see one upgrade in the life of a device (unless you have a toshiba... then you get none).

The most interesting thing for me you did not test: How long does it take from hitting the on button until the PPC 2003 5450 has contact with the WLAN? That is really the one thing that could get me to upgrade, if that goes faster. Could you please test that, if you've got time?

I'm actually a bad test case. For me, I average about 40 seconds. In my case, it's due to the following:

    - At both work and home, I'm in range of no less than three access points at any given time.

    - Some of my AP's at home are private, and some are public (yes, I take a static IP and give away free WiFi to the world if you are in range of my house).

    - Some of my AP's at work utilize WEP, others don't (and use MAC Address filtering). The ones that use WEP take longer to sync.

At my brother's house, and my mom's, the time to lock into an AP is about 15-20 seconds (since they have solo AP's with only MAC address filtering).

Wow! With that time I'd have to give up NetRemote all together... Thanks.
