    I had this problem but realised it was the headphones that cannot cope. I can't remember what the technical term on headphones is, but when the bass unit it turned on full on the ipaq, u gotta make damn sure your headphones can cope with it, else the distortion.

    I opted in buying a pair of sony MDR-EX71 ear phones, which can handle all the bass plus high volume.

    No more distortion for me!!!!!

    I'm using one Sony NUDE EX71 too. Really great earphones IMO.

    and you get really good sound when all volume (also wm9) is set to highest with super bass ? if this is the case, respect for the h4150's sound sub-system

    I can't listen to music using earphones when all volume controls (headphone volume on the screen where you set the bass, iPAQ's general volume control, and MP9's volume) are set to their highest levels. About 40% is as high as I can go before the sound level becomes too painful for my ears to endure using my particular earphones.

    hmm lol

    i figured out that when i have wm9's volume set to highest + super bass the distortions are severe, paticulary at lower bands. oddly, the distortion has nothing to do with the system volume...

    hmm, i think that when i have super bass on and highest volume set in wm9, the software maximum is exceeded, and thus producing a distortion on basses. But if i set the wm9 volume to half the way, i get absolutely clear & powerful bass with super bass enabled.

    anyone can confirm that ?

    i need to know this because if i'm the only one with a crappy sound i will have my h4150 replaced

    Can you set the Bass levels in 41xx? If yes, where is it? ( I sound like a question on an exam)
    Velo 1 -> Compaq C2010 -> HP 620LX ->Casio EM500 -> Casio E-125 -> iPAQ 3630 -> iPAQ 3835 -> iPAQ 3955 -> iPAQ 2210 -> iPaq h4155

    Go to Settings/System/Audio and check "Use Audio Tone for Earphone."
