peer to peer wireless 802.11b sync
My work has decided not to let us use the wireless lan anymore for security reasons. So I nned to find another way to sync. Has anyone had any luck with wireless peer to peer syncing? I have an ornoco card I can put in my laptop and a symbol card T can put in the ipac. Can I make these 2 talk.

Yep, you sure can, I've done it. ActiveSync needs to be set to allow LAN connections.

Ok don't you think putting in an Orinoco card would in effect be breaking your security policy? For what it maybe worth, I have your two cards, and I could get the networker to see the Orinoco, I never could get the Orinoco to see the networker. And yes that was with no security enabled.Originally posted by programmergeek

Can you tell me how you got the Orinoco to see the networker? I've tried, and I can't do it in peer to peer mode.Originally posted by dasutton

I've done it with two Orinoco cards. the laptop orinoco client software needs to be set to peer to peer, I can't remember If I set the ipaq to add-hoc or not, I don't think so but try it if it doesn't work.
Have a good one

yes it's easy if your talking two cards from the same maker, but we are not here. When you got two cards, where the makers can't even agree on the name of the other mode, well it's not all fun.

Well the issue is that the usb and serial don't work on my pc without major fussing, that is another story. So I used the work network to sync and back up anlong with getting my email in differn't offices. Now that is not there so I need to carry my laptop with me instead of just the ppc, but I need another way to sync. I don't need to do the syncing at work but I do use my ppc to keep my home outlook and work outlook synced.
