Copying Large Files Using Active Sync

I've just brought a 256MB compact flash card for my 3850 and I'm having troubles copy large mpeg files (120MB) onto it using Active Sync.

Every time I try the IPAQ seems to loose the connection with the PC and the copy fails. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Smaller MP3's etc.. all copy across fine.

My cradle is plugged into the USB hub of my monitor. Could this cause problems?

From my experience, you wouldn't want to try copying
large files with activesync. It's very slow. I have a Zio
CF adapter and it is several times faster for copying
large files.

It has been awhile since I have tried this, but I remember having trouble copying a 20MB file to the main memory of my 3835 using Active Sync.

I agree with joelupchurch - buy a CF reader. AS is way too slow for large files. Plus, as you've found, it's flaky with big files.

I don't know much about CF card readers so this question may not make any sense. However, my question is - what can you do about this problem if you just wanted to use a SD card?

You can buy similar readers for MMC/SD. Try a Google search on "memory card reader".

As it happens we have some CF Readers here at my work.

I've just installed one and got the file transferred first time. I'm never going back to the Active Sync/Explorer method - this is so much quicker!
