How come SS at pdamotion are so much cheaper?
PDA motion only charges 50 dollars for the silver slider. Why is that?

It's a mass produced unit instead of the hand crafted unit's GM makes.
I got one - albeit about 3 months later than I thought - but it's not bad. Does the job, looks good and keeps the ipaq slim. I haven't seen a GM original so I can't compare but from what I've read on this and other boards, it's very impressive.

I have the OEM compaq CF sleeve, is it worth the trouble to get rid of it and get this SS?
I almost never use my sleeve because how freaking ugly it makes the ipaq.

Any word on when pdamotion is going to get them in stock and ready to ship upon order? How much of a backlog do they have? I'm waiting until I can put in my order and have it within a week.

I emailed Kemmas over at PDAMotion a while back to find out how long it would take for them to get SS2's in stock and ship them.
After 4 days, I emailed George at http://www.silverslider2.com and asked the same question. George emailed me back in 20 minutes, and said he'd ship me an SS3 as soon as he got the money. I got my SS3 a couple days later...I LOVE it!!! It's amazing. I'd seen the standard CF and I knew I'd never lug it around, its ugly and bulky. So the price (while high) definetly made sense. It's the been the best buy I've made for my iPaq!!
Kemmas emailed me back a couple days ago (been about a month since my original email), said he'd be able to ship end of Feb... But his company is still VERY messed up...I'd avoid PDAMotion till they get their act together again...just look at all the flames from their customers on their message board. If you want an SS, I STRONGLY recommend getting one from George.

although I'd love to support GM, the price is double! I think I'll just wait.

Current word regarding PDAMotion orders is that they anticipate fulfilling the rest of their orders by the end of next week. They have (or should have) already fulfilled orders up to #2310. For the most part, they seem to be getting their act in order. A couple of more weeks and things should settle down a bit. Good luck to you fivespeed5.

Yup yup, George handmakes each one, while PDA Motion uses a mold. Also, you get the one from George's in like a week, instead of a few months

According to the pdamotion forum, their sleeve seems to have some quality problem:
1. paint
2. sleeve not fit properly

I went through some of the problems with PDAmotion, but I have to say that the product is really quite nice. The finish is almost indistructable. If PDAmotion would get their act together, buying one from them would not be a move you would regret.

I think this is the reason Palm won't be around much longer.
