Default Bad SD slot or bad sales rep?

I have a 3835. I tried to use a ScanDisk MMC, but nothing happened when I placed it in the slot. I tried to acess it from the backup function and tried moving files to it. I called Compaq and they said the card was not supported in the 3835. Then I tried a Scandisk SD card....same thing...nothing. The store clerk says I still need the expansion pack to see the SD card. So what are the answers? Do I need the expansion pack (I assume not)? Does it sound like a bad slot in the hand held? Are only certain MMC and SD cards recognized by the IPAQ, if so which manufacturers? Thanks for the info.

I've been using a 32MB Sandisk SD card in my 3835 since day one, about five weeks ago. Works fine.

No expansion pack is needed. The store clerk is a moron -- I have no tolerance for people who act like they know what they're talking about when they don't have a clue.

Sounds like a bad slot. I'd do a hard reset first to verify, then swap it out.

(by the way, I think you mean Sandisk, not Scandisk. I say this merely to clarify it for others who may read this thread)

Someone else posted earlier that they had to do a soft reset to get their H38** to recognize their SD card, so you might try that. As for myself, when I got my H3870 I inserted the SD card then turned on the iPAQ and the card was recognized with no problem.

    Good luck.

My H3870 returned an 'error 20' message when I inserted my new SD disk. So I have returned it to the shop for a replacement
