Default Does you backlight just stop working at times?

I have a 3835 and I ran my battery down until the warning notice poped up. Then after re-charging over night then next time I tuned on my Ipaq the backlight would not turn on

I pressed the power button and held it hoping the backlight would turn on but nothing? I keep turning the unit on and off and finally the light just started working.

Keep in mine the brightness was on full the whole time.

This is not the first time this has happend the last time it happend the battery was not drained.

Any news would help me from returning another Ipaq im on my 6th.

    Thanks in advance,
    Adam

I have had the exact same problem, using 3850. I ran the battery down to 12% and since then the backlight doesn't automatically work. I can go in and change the settings and nothing will happen. I will turn it off and come back to it in an hour and the backlight will work.

I have also found a problem with the calculator. It looses the currency conversion information I entered, randomly. One day it will be there, the next nothing (resets all the ones I choose to $1).

    Clearly there are problems!

The backlight issue has been brought up in several threads. You might want to do a search. My 3835 had the same problem and I ended up having to return it.

I haven't had backlight issues with the second device, but it did spontaneously do a hard reset a few days ago. I reloaded my programs, and so far it's working well, but if that happens again, this device is going back too.

As for the currency converter, that problem is listed as a
pocket PC 2002 bug on Chris DeHerreras website:

Yes, my backlight doesnt come on when I disconnect it from the cradle -- needs a soft-reset at that point -- to come back on.

    O well.

I can live with it for now - doesn't happen too often

Yes, it has happened to me also twice but after that no sign of this bug...
The iPaq is the best Pocket PC by far and this tiny bug just does not mean anything.......

Yup, my 3835 did just that last week after I charged it. Backlight would not turn on on soft reset. Performed a self-test and it came back on! What's going on? I hope this is not the symptom of a more serious problem to come

I will be calling Compaq on this issue and I'll report back on what I find out.

    Thanks for your inputs,

    Adam

Does this just happen when the battery goes down? And if you soft reset, does it work normally again?

My first 2 3835s didn't really have this problem. My latest one did the backlight thing today. I got home from work, put it in the cradle and thought it didn't turn on (like it normally turns on when placed in the cradle). I then noticed it was on but the backlight didn't turn on.

I would say 1 in every 3 times I turn on my 3835 the backlight doesn't come on. So, I do a soft reset and everything's fine. I don't think this is something worth returning it for.
