g33k, I think the ports are the same between the 3600 and 3800, it's just that the 3800 doesn't include a separate power port. If you recall, you can buy a sync & charge cable for the 3600 series that charges the iPAQ through the serial port, just as the 3800 does. I hope they are the same, anyway!

I'm wondering if the new 3800 will work with my Stowaway keyboard - are the connectors compatible?

The main problem I see though is that the stowaway currently sucks the life out of an ipaq faster than a mosquito in a blood bank. I usually have to hook up the ipaq to an ac adapter to get more than 20 minutes of battery life out of it when I'm using the keyboard. I dont see how the 3800 can be hooked up to external power if poiwer can only be had through the connecter (which would be connected to the keyboard.

    did that make sense?

anima, I'm not sure why you have the battery problems with the stowaway keyboard that you describe. I use the stowaway on my iPAQ for grad school and it works fine. Each of my classes are 4 hours in length and my iPAQ will make it through it with no battery problems. Sure, it usually drains 50%-75% of the battery, but I've never had it die on me. I'm not sure why you can't go for 20 minutes...

Also, I'm guessing that they'll be compatible with the new iPAQs. It's just a guess, so we'll find out soon enough...

This company has (or will have soon) a clip on keyboard for the iPaq and other Hand Held Devices. Check it out. Price seems reasonable also.

I actually used this at the PPC 2002 presentation yesterday in San Francisco and was told that it would not work with my 3650. Entering text was very much like inputting on my alpha text pager only a tad more space.

I guess it depends on what you use your iPaq for. I see a lot of people using their iPaq for playing MP3 files. If that is all they are using it for, that sure is an expensive MP3 player. For me, the keyboard would be a great asset and much quicker than the virtual keyboard on the screen (that includes the character recognition).

I was told yesterday by a Compaq employee at the Gartner ITxpo in Orlando that the 3600 version of the keyboard is about 2 months out.
