Align Screen won't go away...

Just got a 4G15 Carepaq replacement, and hit an interesting problem...

When I first turn the unit on, and it goes to the Align Screen page, no matter what I do, that screen just keeps recycling. I hit the + signs, and a new Align Screen page pops up.

Going to try doing a ROM upgrade to reflash the 1.77 rom, see if that fixes it, if not, I'll cycle the Roms down to 1.28 ( the oldest I have) and see if that will fix the problem.

keep aliging ur screen, it took me like 10 tries to get passed it when I align my screen also. If that doesn't work it is probably your digitizer.

By downgrading the rom, I was able to get past this screen... but now I'm stuck at the cut and paste of the doctor's appointment demo. I'm completely unable to get past this screen.

At this point, I'm trying to restore my old backup, to see if I can get past this setup... but, I have to agree, it's probably a bad digitizer.

By doing a Restore, I was able to get past the initial setup screens, only to discover only about 1/3 of the total screen was accurately being digitized...

Oh well, placed a call to Compaq, and should have the new one on Tuesday, 3 days after I leave town for 2 weeks... go figure.

I have the exact same problem Prelector is having. I'm currently on my third restore as I write this (4G15 replacement iPAQ), and am hoping that this one is the proverbial "charm".

Just when you think you've seen it all... Leave it to Compaq.

This is definitely a bad digitizer problem... I've been in this situation a few times. Fortunately my digitizer isn't always flaky. Sometimes a sharp tap or two on the screen with the stylus, or even putting the iPAQ in the PC Sleeve will calm it down and I can get the alignment done and successfully use menus. I wouldn't waste too much time with ROM versions, thats not going to fix a glitched digitizer.
