Unable to delete old messages in inbox

Trying to clean out the junk on my ipaq which includes old email messages. when i try deleting, it wont let me. these messages no longer exist on my desktop (outlook)...so how do i get em out?

Try this -

Create a temporary folder on your desktop Outlook under the Inbox. Move all your messages into that folder, leaving the Inbox empty. Sync your device. The problem will probably still persist, but we're not done yet.

Go to Activesync settings a de-select Inbox. Sync your device.

Now go back and select inbox and sync again. Your messages should be gone. Finally, move the messages in the temporary folder back into the Inbox. You should be all set.
