How about you concider the IBM MicroDrive! It would fit into the CF jacket and comes in capacities of 170MB, 340MB, 500MB and 1.0GB.
They are fast and quiet, too!

What exactly is a microdrive???? Does it fit into the CF sleeve slot or is it a separate device? Any pics?

Thanks for the imput.....I looked at the IBM microdrive site.
For anyone using the IBM microdive...just confirming it fits into the CF sleeve slot...
Also, how does using the microdrive affect battery power?

OK....just searched the forum for microdrives and got so many hits...sorry for asking a beaten-up topic.
However, no one seems to be in agreement...either a CF card with less memory and have more batterly life or a microdrive with more memory and less battery life.
Does that sum it up?

Yup, I think that sums it up. My personal choice was for longer battery life. I just use multiple cf cards. I use one for e-books, pictures, and reference stuff; one for games(MAMEce and PocketNES and other stuff) and a couple for mp3's.
If you're worried about spending $199 for a stupid 64 MB compaq cf card, get the Kingston from buy.com or computers4sure.com. The compaq is way overpriced, I think. I don't know, maybe it's higher speed(10x??), but I seriously doubt it!

What I and my collegues are waiting for is a driver for FAT32 compression. I have tried it with my digital camera CF card, works profectly. I can now store 130mb on a 48mb cf card.
Or, they can release a software zip program so it compresses un-used data and files into a tight little bundle of memory.
This sounds like a job for Pocket-WinZip!!

i currently use the microdrive and i find it very useful. there really is not any other storage device that can store plenty of mp3s with movies as well. once i used pockettv, i knew i had to store some full length movies on there.
the battery life does suck but i am countering that with the ipowerpak from data-nation. i haven't played around with it too much, but i am using it to power it the ipaq in my car as well to offset the battery drain from playing movies and mp3s. the powerpak is nice since i can recharge the maha powerex batteries fairly quickly with the rapid charger and carry them around with you. awesome combination.
i also found that the auto charger does not work well with the ipaq because when playing mp3's through the line out because there is heavy line noise (probably coming from the engine). the ipowerpak doesn't do this when charging the ipaq. totally awesome. i am building my own car mount top play movies in my car in landscape mode since car mounts are extremely expensive and they will not hold the ipaq for landscape viewing.
for anyone who wants to view movies, landscape mode is great since when in landscape mode, the sidelights are on the top and bottom. because of that, the viewing angle is much larger since people sitting on the left and right side of the car are able to see it. the sidelights usually limit viewing angle from left to right with that annoying glow, but since it is in landscape, it only limits from up to down (which really doesn't matter since it is at eye level)
ps sorry about the lack of punctuation. the shift key is messed up on this keyboard
