Help! I can connect to my ISP using the Pretec modem, but I'm being disconnected when I use my newly acquired Socket modem.
All of the settings are identical (DNS, IP addresses, etc.), except the Socket connection has the "Wait for dial tone before dialing" option unchecked and the baud rate is 19200 for the Socket as opposed to 57600 for the Pretec. I've also set the Socket modem settings to 480 seconds before cancelling the call.
The software was successfully loaded from the installation CD for my cell phone (Samsung 3500). My wireless plan is currently the Sprint PCS 29.95 monthly option (soon to be upgraded to the new 34.95 1500 minutes plan), and as far as I know I should be able to receive data.
I've tried making the cell phone settings "incoming data only" and "Data/Fax off". I get the same results either way.
When trying to connect, I get the following messages on my iPaq
Opening Port
Dialing <ISP number>
Device Connected
and the soon thereafter (but not 480 seconds)
Remote Networking
! Disconnected
Any ideas? Thanks!
