Two big-ish problems with my 2210, HELP!
My Ipaq 2210 is only a few weeks old but I've two problems that I just can't seem to fix.
1) The unit produces a very high pitch whine from around the display whenever it is in use. This only started today and just won't go away. It is not from the backlight as ithappens even when this is turned off. Has anyone any idea what I can do? I use the thing a lot so sending it off to HP for repair isnt really my prefered option, especially on a product so new.
2) After removing the Xscalar demo via the remove programs app I now have the error message "Cannot execute XCPUScalar.exe" whenever I wake the Ipaq by pressing the power button. I've tried installing then removing again but it doesn't help.
Any suggestions?

Sending it back to HP wont do anygood anyway. I tried w/ mine and they said they didn't finda nythign wrong w/ it. Semi-annoying yes. But only when I am in a silent environment (which barely ever happensOriginally posted by omar_g

I've managed to sort problem two by searchign for the error message on Google. I had to reinstall, close then remove the app without power cycling.
I'm stills tumped by problem one and i'm hoping someone somewhere has an answer in the next few days or my beauty is off to HP

It's more than likely just the whine from a coil, that's the whine you get from electrical stuff when you walk into Comet.
My old LOOX used to whine, but this one is fine so far.
It can come & go too.

You should have some leftovers either in the registry or a lost shortcut somewhere.Originally posted by omar_g

Try this excellent freeware app called "Remover" which is great to clean similar junk

I experienced the same high-pitched noise with my 2210. The noise didn't come from the back of the unit at all, only the front of the display. I sent it in twice:
The first time HP said that they couldn't find anything wrong with it after going through normal troubleshooting....and it seemed like the noise had disappeared. But the noise came back within a couple of days.
The second time I sent it in, HP returned it after replacing three parts. I don't have the list in front of me, but it included the display and battery. Since then I haven't heard the noise...I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
As a side note, I checked out my friend's Dell Axim X5 to see if it experienced the same problem - and let me tell you, it was much louder than mine was before I had it fixed! So it's happening to other PDAs out there.
