Interesting, but completely rumor

I was having a discussion with one of my good friends, a former Apple employee, and now a developer and founder of a company out in the SF area. We were talking about the rumored 7 inch apple iDevice. He immediately laughed, and said "thats not an iPad. Thats the new Touch." And, he doesn't believe its 7 inches, he thinks its more like 5 inches + or so. Apparently he thinks the iPhone and touch size are separating into two different categories. He doesn't often talk about things he doesn't really know something about, so....we will see.

I mentioned the need to scale iPhone or iPad apps to fit a different screen, but he believed it was a non event, and that the iPhone apps would scale to this 5 inch or so size with no issues.

That was reported a long time ago, and I think I might have posted one link here myself. The next Touch is meant to be significantly differentiated from the iPhone and the current Touch. I've heard rumors of two physical sizes, with a 5" screen model being one. And I'm not that connected.

Congrats on the scoop then! Mine is nothing more than heresay rumor. No links, no verifications One thing he did mention that I didn't really include in the original post, although I did kind of reference it. He said it was wifi only, and was for using iPhone apps, not iPad apps. Plus, I think he is just guessing here. He has no direct connection whatsoever with Apple anymore, other than having good friendships (as far as I know).
