iPhone 4S vs. Droid RAZR

She has multiple responses to certain questions. If you ask her "How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?", she gives you a wolfram-alpha report on woodchucks, asks you which kind of woodchuck, or coldly asks if you don't have better things to do.

She also has multiple responses to "What is the meaning of life?"

Personally I like using Siri for quick things like "text my wife: I am on my way home" or "add a reminder: pick up milk when I leave the office". It's not necessarily BETTER, but it is far more convenient than jumping in and out of each app.

I hope Apple decides to bring us a "text based Siri" so if I need to do stuff with my phone in a crowded meeting room, I can do it without having to go open individual apps and without having to actually talk to it to get Siri involved. Of course this could also provide a non-jailbreak means for us iPhone 4 users to use Siri.

At the office, I borrowed a friend's iPhone 4S to try the "pod bay doors" thing and Siri came back with "I'm reporting you for intelligent agent harassment." So a few weeks ago she was saying "I'm afraid I can't do that" but now her sense of humor seems to have gone in a different direction.

Siri reminds me of the old magical "8 Balls" that answered questions for us. When she responds to an obviously demeaning, or question with sexual overtones, she often comes back with those "8 ball" answers, appropriate for the time. I still think those 8 ball answers were dreamed up by a political speech writer, that had a non sensical answer to any question. that said NOTHING lol.

See....now that is one reason I went with the iphone over Android. "the droid RAZR IS...slated to get .....See? When one iOS comes out, its immediately available to all iPhones. (at least the later ones). No waiting. And iris came out after Siri? Um, can you say copycat? And I doubt iris will ever have the server and financial backing that Siri will. Oh....and NEXT year Motorola will fall under Google's control? So you have an insight as to whats GOING to be available then? Sorry, I can't buy products based on what MAY be coming out a year or more out. We've all been there with vaporware in the past, and been disappointed in whats come out. We all waited for an iPhone 5, and it didn't happen. Fortunately, the 4s looks like a formidable update. And, its here now.

The RAZR is already out, and Motorola did officially state it would get ICS next year.

IRIS is currently downloadable from the Android Market too. If you don't like that, there is Vlingo, which pretty much does the same thing.

Has anyone caught Siri out yet? I've read all kinds of pretty clever responses to odd questions. I can't recall the best one, but I was amazed they'd anticipated such a question when I read about it.

If you ask her anything she doesn't understand, she says "I don't understand ____. Would you like me to search the web for it?"

I can test questions if you want and post the replies (we might need to spin this into a separate thread).

(And don't worry about my data use-I'm grandfathered in on an unlimited plan)

I tried a few questions on my wife's iPhone. The best was the response to "what is the meaning of life?" Answer: "It's mostly about chocolate." I think all the answers come from WolframAlpha.
