The last version of WordPerfect for the Mac runs very well on Intel Macs with all OS versions including Lion, using the Sheepshaver emulator. Complete and easy-to-use packages, plus a large number of utilities (including a Microsoft Word converter), are free at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/wordperfectmac/.

    Welcome to Brighthand, jrethorst.

The last post in this thread is almost a year old but maybe your info will be useful to the OP.
Experience is what you get when you thought you were getting something else.

I was initially wondering why someone revived the thread; but that is useful info. I know a lot of people who have legacy usage of WordPerfect (it was for a long time the de facto standard for law firms, at least in my area). So some might want to retain some functionality with it.

I went to the link, since I desperately miss WordPerfect. Word's "show codes" is nowhere near as useful in complicated formatting as WP's. Plus, I hate Microsoft. What I couldn't find is either a link to obtain the program or some simple directions for installing the emulator. All the links that came up seemed geared for people with a lot more expertise than I have.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

You have to join the group to get access to the files section of the site. Did you try that (it may still be geeky... I didn't join to find out).

Join the group, and then click the "Getting Started with WordPerfect Mac" link in the last paragraph of the Description on the first page. That will walk you through it; please don't hesitate to post any questions.

If you are not going to use Parallels, VMWare or Boot Camp, Google WPMac, it's a Yahoo group that supports WordPerfect for Mac.

A resource for users of WordPerfect for the Macintosh and supporting technologies, including OSX Classic, AppleScript, and emulators including SheepShaver and Basilisk, which run WordPerfect on Intel Macs and on the Leopard OS (10.5) and later.
I hope that you'd be able to run WordPerfect. Wish you the best.

Hi. I know one easy, fast, trusted Wordperfect application for Mac. With WordPerfect viewer, no need to change your file extension, simply drag and drop it in WPD Wizard.
