Don't forget about the 3G-S launch, DTM. It may be better to try it sooner than Saturday. Maybe today or early Friday.

I got it when it came out a little after 1 PM ET and it downloaded ZIP (that is really fast), installed in the usual length of time, and reactivated right away. Been great so far.

Now if the AC would only get fixed faster.....

Ah ... I too had a ZIP install, but this morning I was too lazy to take out the micro-brick to recharge so plugged it in to the laptop and it is creeping along backing up the iPhone. Usually by the time I go to the kitchen pour a bowl of cereal and come back it is done.

this is probably just an innocent coincidence, 3.0 is bigger than 2.2 right, but my first thought was some conspiracy LOL ... I'm only using 11GB not sure what it was before upgrade.

    is the backup named backupStatus.ipmeta?

I had problems downloading the 3.0 update around 8:00 pm Eastern Time last night. I'm in Canada, so it was probably a Canadian server I was connecting to. Or the issue could be the ISP, Rogers, which is not known for good service.

My first 5 or 6 attempts terminated with a "network timed out" error. And each time, clicking "Resume" in iTunes restarted the download instead of resuming it.

Having been through this situation before, I knew what to do: I opened a browser, then babysat the download in iTunes. Every time the download began to lag, I Alt-Tabbed to the browser and reloaded the current page. That resumed the download in iTunes too. (Don't ask me why.)

Over all, the successful attempt took ~20 minutes, and the backup/install took about 30. (Plus another 5 minutes for a carrier settings update.)

Everything seems to work great so far, except for one app named WiFinder that seems to have been broken by 3.0.

GL, was this your first sync after the upgrade? My first after the upgrade was slow but thereafter no problem. At least I don't recall it being slow thereafter....

Incidentally, a heads-up for those who are using BlueSocket authentication for WiFi network access: the automatic login feature doesn't appear to work with it. Not just my own experience, either. All over Apple forums.

Since doing the update, I notice that the text message bubble is blank, it used to have "SMS" in there. Anyone else notice that? Also, does th multi media messaging work? I can't see any new buttons or options in the messaging application for this.

Good advice, RobbM, I hadn't thought about that. Did it last night; took about 5 minutes to download, and went quite smoothly overall.

I updated my 1st generation iPhone from version 1.1.4 to 3.0 on Saturday without any noticeable problems.

That is, until I noticed upon completion that all of my Notes were screwed up. The Note titles no longer match the contents of the notes and when I try to open some of the notes the notes app crashes whereas other notes are just the wrong notes. And when I try to create a new note the notes app crashes, and if I try to change any of the contents of the notes the note app crashes.

    What the hell?

Welcome to the wonderful world of version 3.0!

My notes were fine, but for some reason it changed my son and daughter-in-law's anniversary date from July 31 to November 30. This, of course, allows him to be four months late with his gift to his wife, and can use me as a backup. (Good luck if he tries that.)

Oh, and have you tried eReader yet?

This is why I stayed with vs 1.1.4 so long. The damn thing just plain worked. But now I've got all sorts of bells and whistles but no stinkin' notes.
On top of that, around 3 weeks ago my home button stopped working. I can click, click, click till the cows come home and nuthin' notta' zip. So everytime I want to get home I have to shut the dang thing down.
