Re: What about the name - iPhone?
Nay, I think the desktop computer will disappear and internet "iSuites" or "iOffice" will be the next frontier for personal computing, the only OSes will reside on smartphones and smart folding portable monitors.
This is computing in 15 years: with your 5th generation iPhone you stay connected 365/24/7, with access to terabytes of memory on "Macoogle's" website, since that's what you'll need to stream live concerts 365/24/7. When you need to talk to your accountant you unfold your 19 inch bluray-plasma portable monitor, which fits into your old Treo case, at the local Starbucks, editing your spreadsheets which reside on Macoogle's servers using iOffice on the same, with Graffiti 10, or simply speak into your bluetooth 4.0 noise-cancelling microphone/headset.
but back on topic ... wouldn't that be wierd if Apple pulled a M$oft number and just up and took over Linksys branding?iPhone 4, iPhone 3G, Plantronics 320, Mac OS 10.6.3 on a 15" MacBook Pro, Airport LAN & WiFi, att.net, PDA path: Palm i705 (2004 - son)=> Palm Tungsten TX (4/06 - sold) => Nokia 6682 (7/06 - 7/08) => iPhone 3G (7/08 - 7/10 now used by son) => iPhone 4 (7/10 - current w/ work SIM) & Nokia (?)(7/10 - current w/ home SIM)

Re: What about the name - iPhone?
Last I read is that Apple bought the rights to the name from Linksys.

30 years ago, who would have predicted that Toyota would have surpassed Crysler in US sales and would be moving up to soon overtake Ford.
(Come to think of it, 30 years ago, before the bail-out, one might have predicted AMC out-selling Crysler...
)

Re: What about the name - iPhone?
Latest reports are that Cisco send over some papers the night before the keynote, but that Apple hasn't signed them yet!
One even noted that a case could be made that it's a different type of device than the Cisco one and so Apple could bull its way through! (Seems unlikely.)
I'll bet they're just days away from an agreement--or weeks if Apple wants them to sweat the $$ of legal action (of course that cuts both ways). Some small licensing fee, or if Cisco is smart, small per unit fee must be in the works.

Re: What about the name - iPhone?
All I can say is that I suddenly started seeing a lot of Cisco ads on TV last night and the first phone it featured was a Treo.
