    All I can say is that I've resisted replacing my LD, but, simply stated

    ME WANTIE!!!

    However, I will curb my desire until Version 2 comes out. Likely all the hardware will be just fine (with the possible exception of the screen) but the software (and interface) might have some problems.

    And my phone acct is with Cingular (or AT&T, whichever now) so getting one would be pretty easy.

    I don't know if I can hold off until version 2 but I'll probably wait until the very first adopters figure out what isn't working right and the subsequent fix is released.

    It will be probably version 3 before I can afford it (maybe the price will go down and functionality will go up), but I think I may be looking at my convergent device. I'm hoping for a larger HD before I get there.

    I am ready to hand over my $500 dollars now.

    At the very least, I can tell you that Cingular just gained a customer as my CDMA contract is up in April and I want the chance to upgrade to such a phone. WiFi, BT, Quadband, Gigs of storage .... I want nothing more then true love and world piece. And right now I think apple could provide both of those too

    One of the reasons I wouldn't be able to afford the phone soon is I'm saving up for my next computer-- a powerbook.

    The bottom line is.... based on the specs of the new iPhone, it doesn't matter how much Palm "tweaks" Garnet, the two OS's are in completely different universes! There is NOTHING Palm can do now to catch up to the iPhone.

    It's quite sad really.... Palm had the head start over anyone in the industry. The Treo is not even in the same league as the iPhone. RIP Palm, Long Live Apple.
