I was thinking about getting the palm.net service and i was just wondering if your charged for AIM. Second i was wondering if you can actually look at all types of sites using the palm.net service, or are you limited to certain sites.

The AOL AIM client is free to use (you just pay for the Palm.net service). To use the full AOL client, you will have to purchase it from a web store like Handango.com. You can find it here. Before you purchase it, you should check with AOL and verify that they are still supporting the software.

The i705 uses a web proxy server to view web sites. The browser does a good job of displaying pages, but you may want to disable graphics for two reasons: the first is to cut down the load times and secondly is to cut down on the data usage.

I let my subscription to the palm.net service run out last year. I was very happy with my i705 because it was a great device for sending and reading e-mail.

Unfortunately AOL AIM no longer works on the Palm.Net service. AOL discontinued it earlier this year.

As to browsing the web, yes you can see all sites. The device uses "web clipping" which runs allows the browser to use a proxy that compresses and optimizes a site for viewing. The result is that a site will load faster on the i705 device and used less kb.
