so, it is supposed to check automatically for new email, but.....
It doesn't seem to want to do that. I just set up the business account. My Palm.com account notifies me when I get a new message, but beeping, blinking, vibrating.... only the business stuff won't. And that is my important email. Please let me know if you have any insight! Thanks, ALN

Are you saying that you get your "business e-mail" but just don't get the alerts, or do you not get the business e-mail? If the latter, it may be a configuration issue. Or, if you're using another application to read your business e-mail, it may not trigger the same alerts as your wireless account. Does the business e-mail automatically arrive, or do you need to manually refresh it?
Another thought: have you tried setting an automatic forwarding of your business e-mail to your Palm.net account? Will that give you the alerts?Steven G. Tyler, Esq.

I don't get the alerts at all, I do get the messages when I manually check for it.
Please help! The Palm people walked me through several configuration changes. Then they told me that Cingular has a 72 hour-no guarantee of alerts problem.
Do you know anything about that?
I could forward all my email to the Palm.com, but that just defeats the purpose... maybe I should have gotten a Blackberry???
Thanks in advance.

I'm shooting in the dark here (don't have an i705 to test) so can't offer any further advice, but it seems to me only the e-mail that is pushed to your Palm and updated automatically (i.e., Palm.net) would trigger an alarm. It sounds as though it may be a system problem, though, if Palm has identified it with Cingular.
Why would automatic forwarding of a copy of your business e-mail defeat the purpose? Most e-mail systems offer rules and filters that would handle that automatically, and when your Palm.net copy came in (presumably within a minute or so of the original message arrival), you get the alert.Steven G. You may have the Business account set up to not notify you. To check, go into the Business account.
Tap the Menu button and go to Options -> Notification. Select "On." Select the Notification type - System (plays sound selected in Prefs/General) or None (allows for vibration and a blinking LED). In Prefs/General, make sure that System Sound, Vibrate, and Alarm LED are on (or whichever ones you want - if they're all off, you won't get notifications).Jennifer

for what its worth...
I struggled to get my business account to work directly with Multimail but the frustration was not worth it...I now have my business account (Outlook 2000 through Microsoft Exchange server) forwarded to my Palm and it works beautifully...there is typically less than a 30 second delay from it hitting my Palm...the only drawback I have is everything shows up as being sent from myself, when replying I have to enter in the address manually and the emails go out under my Palm address...
I guess a small price to pay for the convenience of having near instantaneous email on the run

Doesn't that pretty much defeat the purpose of having "Business e mail" sent to you wirelessly? I refuse to use my Palm.Com address. I want the corporate e mail to work. Forwarding corporate e mail to an Internet account (security issues?) is not what this is supposed to do.
Back to the BlackBerry.

I heard Palm..
I heard Palm will roll out a wireless message server(software) before Summer so any IT managers can handle e-mail for its employees. Just like what RIM does. They charge you also on the server side software.

I solved this by doing a redirect instead of a forward in the rules wizard.Originally posted by jbucko
