I did it!! Hello? *Echo* Hello???
I snagged a 2nd hand TP2!
But it appears I missed the party...
Old, hard, moldy cake. Microsoft killing MyPhone service... Sprint ditching the TP2.
Too broke to buy a new phone. Landed this one as a free hand-me-down thankfully.
Least I can enjoy this, so long as I keep my eyes shut when looking anywhere else on the forum.
*Talks to himself* So... any tips or tricks I should know? Anyone? *Echo*

Congratulations! I'm posting from my TP2.
I don't know that you need any tips since you've had a Treo Pro and you've supported others with the TP2.
I have very few apps installed. Performance seems improved by clearing out txt messages regularly.
I like Opera Mini, but rely on RSS Hub for a lot of my web access. Click the web link in the feed article, then press the back arrow key to return to RSS Hub. Continue browsing your feeds while the page loads in an Opera tab. Opera's fast, but I can scan multiple headlines via RSS and have 4 or 5 full articles waiting for me in Opera this way.
I really like Sense. I tried CHT (Co0kie's Home Tab) and liked it, but went minimalist in favor of performance. I've never really invested in launchers and widgets.
If you want an extra battery, Evo uses the same one. I bought a cradle that has an extra battery slot. I only need the 2nd battery for travel or maybe weekends.
You don't need headphones w/mic: w/std headphones, the mic on the TP2 stays open.
There's a cab to add functionality to the camera - very nice. (Enable All Camera Modes)
Edit: You might find some things here - Software worth installing on the TP2 *Continuously Updated, links in thread* [MAR 8]Last edited by jigwashere; 06-17-2011 at 12:15 PM.

I'm also late to the WM smartphone party, although I have an Imagio, not a TP2, with its lovely full keyboard.
I wonder if I can also use the built-in mic with standard headphones? Guess I'll just have to try.

Congrats!
Sorry I missed this when it was posted
I still think the TP2 is a great phone and a great reading device. The guts are obsolete and the OS is obsoleter, but the form factor is unmatched (unless WP7 appeals to you). Unless you want an multimedia machine, you could have a long and happy life your device.
Have you tried "book form"? I use rhodium keyboard controller to keep my screen in portrait when the keyboard slides out, hold it like a book with my index finger in the crack and my thumb over the dpad, and it's the most comfortable reading experience I've had lying down. Sitting up I hold it a little different.I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.
