    Exclamation New ROM Center

    New ROM Center
Many thanks goes to Globalbus, Elektrownik and Boomer for their great work and contribution!

    General information:
This is about updating the HP iPAQ 200 series to Windows Mobile 6.5
    iPAQ 210, 211, 212, 214 and 216 ROM update.

    Rom update:
Format a SD card with FAT16 and make it bootable. You can use the HP bootable flash utility
To update the ROM image download a ROM package and extract bldiag.nb0 (the update image loader) and HPImage.bin
Copy both files to a SD Card, place the SD Card in the SD Slot and Press and hold the Calendar and Windows keys, then momentary press Reset.
You should see a white screen and then a blue progress bar like this:

If the iPAQ just reboots then check the following:
    - SDHC does not work. (Size must be 2GB or smaller)
    - SD Card must be formatted with FAT16 and bootable.
    - Update files must be in the root dir.

After the update is finished the iPAQ will do a clean boot.

    ROMs:
    Orginal 6.0 Chinese ROM

Original rebuild WM 6.0 18165 build 500 ROMs:
    V1.00.06-317-WWE English
    V1.00.12-537-NLD Dutch
    V1.00.12-538-ESN Spanish
    V1.00.12-538-ITA Italian
    V1.00.12-539-GER German
    V1.00.12-552-CHT Traditional Chinese
    V1.00.13-562-CHS Simplified Chinese

    V1.00.12-540-RUS Russian
V1.00.??-???-PTB Brazilian Portuguese and V1.00.??-???-KOR Korean Not yet available

These ROMs are a combination of the (dumped with pdocread) XIP kernel, OS and ROM template.
So they are like the original ROM but with more free ROM space!

    wm6.5.0.93-21905_V1.01.15-441-WWE English New!

    wm6.5.0.93-21905_V1.01.15-446-GER German New!

Fixed WiFi connection problem, based on HP OEM ROM V1.00.15 and should now be free of bugs, but is still beta.
Contains sp39620 and sp48387, WiFi driver 38.p44 and Bluetooth 1.8.0.7000 from the iPAQ 11x update.
Changed default volume, audio should be louder than original.

Please report any problem with this ROM.

    Experimental WM6.5.5 (old)
Experimental, unstable, if keyboard doesnt work after flashing you will need hard reset, dont try to change today items, this will kill WM and you will need to reflash...

    Hello.
Sony66 first thanks for the work to develop new ROM for the iPAQ 214.
A small or big mistake in this new ROM.
"In setting-system-power"?, Characters do not appear correctly. It seems that they are "Chinese."
    Left two images as shown.
    A greeting.

At last, this thread has the prominence it deserves.
I don't like to ask this but I will. I've searched the old thread and haven't found what I'm looking for although I'm sure it's there somewhere.
I have access to a brand new iPAQ 214 and would like to extract the ROM with a view to flashing it to a corrupted iPAQ. I'm hoping there's a chance that this will resurrect the broken one. How do I do this? Most importantly, can I extract the ROM without any risk to the new iPAQ?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm not new to Windows Mobile but the whole business of ROM cooking and flashing confuses me.

    Bring back the Psion 5mx

Yes, I asked Ed to make this new thread sticky, and he did it right away.
Later another mod locked the old topic, so we are here now.

The best thing would be to dump the full ROM including OBM, eboot, uldr, xip and OS. But this can only be done under linux.
The uldr, xip and OS can be dumped under windows using pdocread.
You can also do it on the ipaq with DiskRW.
Reading the ROM has no effect on the ipaq. Flashing and writing to ROM does.

I swapped the wrong lanuage into the 0409 OEM folder last week.
Will fix it later today or tomorrow.
I am updating the OS now to build 21905

    I will.
I think that the OEM base now is as good as I can get it.
So now I have to do the combining for other languages.
If this is done I have a good MUI base for building ROMs.
I then will start to make WM6.5.3 and 6.5.5 ROMs.

    Just try the wm6.5.0.92-21905_V1.01.15-430-WWE English.
And, in ABOUT, it shows CE OS 21901(Build 21905.5.0.93).
    Is that right?
