Default PDA News - Cobalt phone demo, 4 GB SD cards, Samsung PPC phone

    Oswin demos smartphone running Cobalt

Asian hardware manufacturer Oswin, a sister company of GSPDA, has demonstrated a smartphone that is the first instance of a new device running Palm OS Cobalt. The phone features a 320 x 240 QVGA display, quad-band GSM/GPRS, IRDA, and a Mini-SD slot.

Besides running Cobalt, the demonstration model of the phone was capable of dual-booting to select either Cobalt or Windows Mobile. Oswin has claimed that the phone will eventually support five different operating systems, including Cobalt, Windows Mobile, and Windows CE.Net.

ATP announces 2 GB and 4 GB SD cards

Memory manufacturer ATP has announced plans to release high-speed 2 and 4 GB SD memory cards. Rated at 133x, the new ProMax cards have a theoretical maximum write speed of 18 MB/second, and read speed of 20 MB/second. The 2 GB cards should be available in July, while the 4 GB cards are scheduled for release sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. Either date could slip, though, as production of current 2 GB SD cards has been slow. Sandisk's 2 GB SD cards have been nearly impossible to obtain, and other manufacturers have had similar problems supplying the higher-density cards.

Samsung is showing off a new CDMA PocketPC phone that can convert from a tablet to a landscape device with keyboard.

The specs include a 520 MHz processor, a QVGA screen, EVDO, WiFi, and a 1.3 MP camera. No information on when or if it will be marketed outside Korea, though Verizon does offer some of Samsung's other PocketPC phone models.

Lawsuit settlement for owners of Palm m100, m105, m125

If you own a Palm m100, m105, or m125, you may qualify for a class-action lawsuit settlement, based on a known and undisclosed design flaw that caused these models to sometimes lose data when changing batteries. PalmOne has agreed to replace or upgrade defective models. Full details can be found at the settlement site.

That Danger, errr, Samsung design is cool. Might be a little too thick though.

I guess I'm registered as a m105 user with Palm, so I got notified last week and figured I'd check with the group. I'm not sure if I should send mine in only because I'm still using it! EeeeeeK!

Incidently, I just replaced the batteries on my m105 which resulted in a full reset, again!
    Quality product.

I have an old m105 that I gave to my daughter. I filled out the paperwork and sent it in last week. I will post what happens with it.

Just the paperwork? or did you send in the unit? My take is they want the unit back?

You have to fill in the paperwork first. If they agree they owe you a replacement, they send for the unit.

My paperwork goes out today. I guess when it come time to send the unit in, I'll Hotsync it, pull the batteries, let it reset so it is clear of data and wait to see what they send back.
