They have to give the rebate, under the pressure of viewsonic v36 only $199($299-$100 rebate).

Personally, I doubt it. PocketPCs have been cheap for awhile, and the v36 doesn't really compete with the T|C. This may--note that I say MAY--be the first prelude to price drops on the T|C ahead of a replacement model in the spring release cycle, but that is entirely conjecture.

Good point. With palmOne also having the Treo 600 now, the fate of the T|C will be interesting to watch. I wonder if they'll try to bring the two form factors closer together so they can build one device with different wireless options.
