Consistent branding would be nice. I can't keep track of the multitude of Samsung devices besides the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy S3. Having one smaller, less expensive model with one name would be good for brand recognition, instead of a dozen different "Samsung Galaxy [insert random word here]" and "Samsung [insert random word here]" models for people to keep track of.
Samsung Galaxy S III (U.S. Cellular, unrooted, Launcher8). My review.
Sony VAIO Duo 11 (i3-3217U, 11.6" 1080p IPS, N-Trig stylus, Windows 8). My video review; handwriting test.
    Sony VAIO F2390X (i7-2670QM, 540M, 16.4" 1080p, Windows 7 Pro). My video review.

I remember when 4" devices were monsters, not minis. The so-called razr mini was a monster too. I hope this isn't the end of the truly small devices, which will now need to be referred to as "micros". Maybe picos.

I seem to recall once disagreeing with someone who opined the end of the standard, 3.5ish" category, as there were no speedy devices being made that size anymore. I was wrong at the time, but man, I'm really wrong now.
I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

Well, I'm very happy that SOMEBODY is finally making less-than-monster-sized Android devices with decent specs. Although I've gotten used to my Galaxy Nexus' size, I still find it really annoying how difficult it is to use one-handed, having to balance it on the tips of my fingers to get my thumb diagonally across the screen to touch something, or having to resort to two-handed use).

I hope AT&T picks this up and it has LTE - I'll definitely get it then. Tho' how long that will be, if ever, is a mystery.

Buffed 4" Samsung Galaxy phones were around for some time now. Just mostly regional and carrier based.

For example in the Galaxy S2 era dominated by dual cores, we have the Galaxy R, Galaxy Z, Galaxy Blaze and the Galaxy S Advance.

In the S3 era, you already have phones that are quite close and likely direct siblings. The Galaxy Victory, the Galaxy Stellar, Galaxy Relay (with slider keyboard). With the exception of the 4.5" screen, the Galaxy Express also shares the same specs as the rest. Given this, it is not likely you will see the S3 Mini in the US.

    Well, I'm still hopin' :-)

None of those you mention is available on AT&T, from what I can see.

The Galaxy Express is AT&T's. But the screen is 4.5" like the Samsung Inspire.
