Unless you really want the dual built-in speakers; I don't see why this phone makes much sense.

Years ago I would have jumped all over something like this. I still have my Nokia Blue Taco in a drawer somewhere and this is streaks better. In addition to the speakers, I note that it has an internal FM antenna (fractal perhaps?) which means you won't have to plug in wired headphones to act as an antenna. A nice feature. It sounds like it has all the options covered for music lovers.
Strangely enough, even though I have quite a bit of music on my Galaxy, I almost never listen to it these days.
I see this as a good option for people, probably mostly young, on prepaid. Its low specs will hopefully keep it affordable.

Do people actually use the built-in speakers to listen to music or movies on their phones? I use headphones or some other 3.5mm jack solution (like plugging the phone into the aux in jack of my car) for media consumption (and I play music on my phone for a couple hours per day). Even the best onboard sound is going to pale in comparison to respectable headphones.
I have the same question with the HTC 8X and One S and their chest-pounding about Beats Audio.Samsung Galaxy S III (U.S. Cellular, unrooted, Launcher8). My review.

I doubt they're terrific considering they're in a lower spec device but still probably pretty good. Plus it's hard to share your music with others when using headphones.
Although I do use headphones, I really prefer not to have things stuck in my ears whenever possible, especially when outside. I'm always concerned there might be something going on in the outside world that I should be able to hear.
My car has both a CD and a cassette deck so there is no aux jack.

That there are a pair of speakers is, to my eye, secondary to the fact the speakers are forward-facing. Would love for that to become the norm. While if you're ONLY listening to music or a podcast or some such, turning the device over is no biggie, I'm usually listening while using it, pointing the sound away from me. This problem is a little more galling on a tablet, but relevant here too.
I'm not interested in this strange little device, but I applaud Samsung for their ever-increasing reach. This is a market with far too little niche targeting for my taste. HTC slimmed their line down. Nokia, the indisputable king of device diversity, is down to almost one form factor. Samsung's Note managed to hit a group that was less niche than people expected and they still churn out minis and pockets and players galore, maybe one day, they'll find my niche too.I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

Mi An is right. Kudos for filling a sub-segment. This is where Samsung, with huge resources, can really flex their muscles. Some will stick, some maybe not.
LS, there are good adapters that fit into the cassette slot and plug into your device allowing it to play through your car stereo. Very cheap and quite decent.

Yes, I do miss all the wild and sometimes impractical things that Nokia used to come up with.
I've tried one of those adapters before but didn't have good results. It was a no-name and didn't cost much but the sound was terrible and the cassette drive dragged. If there are better ones, could you point me in the right direction?

Your description puzzles me. It is pretty simple tech as long as the auditory output from your cassette deck to your speakers is good. It is a cassette cartridge with a strip that passes over the tape head as if it were tape wired to an aux output cable that goes into your earphone jack. If you got bad sound, either your headphone jack isn't good, the jack is damaged or the car wiring is fritzy. I usually pick these up at Walmart, cheapest I can find. They will break eventually (you'll lose the strip on the cassette cartridge, but usually I get at least a year ou of them. I've gotten no name ones at truck stops and they worked fine.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Music Revealed: Meant for Music Lovers Discussion
LS, I'll think on it; but the tape drive should not have dragged. I think the cassette piece should 'lock out' the actual drive so it doesn't run. It only makes contact with the 'hot' contact to power the unit.
I did have one; but I don't use it anymore. I'll see if I can find it; but I think I gave it to my sister who probably doesn't use it anymore either.
