Give it a slightly bigger battery, a moderate case restyle, exchanging the preloaded Sprint apps for Verizon's, you probably get a good look at the still unannounced Droid 5.

That's probably true. Although I'd rather see a MUCH bigger battery, say RAZR MAXX territory, and an AMOLED screen. If they did those things, they'd have a much nicer device.

A phone with a full keyboard. If only I could budget one right now. I've even given over my distrust of sliders at this point. I use a capacitive stylus to make my touchscreen-only device usable for text entry. I don't even like touchscreen keyboards on my tablet.

The glued-in battery is a bad sign. These devices aren't getting any cheaper to buy but such construction reinforces the idea that the manufacturers and carriers treat them as disposable since the owners will most likely demand a new device in 2 years when they re-up.

If you're thinking of using it on Page Plus, an old Droid 3 might not go amiss. The ergonomics leave something to be desired, but it's feature rich, and old enough that it should be getting cheap.

Not a bad idea. Pretty much any VZW phone will work on PP although they don't support smartphones.

I wonder if you can have two Android phones on two networks tied to the same account?

Shouldn't make any difference. The Google account is completely independent of phone or network. One of the really smart (user-focused) decisions they made early on.

LG Nexus 4: AT&T (Gophone), Android 4.4.2, stock and unrooted-- and probably staying that way.

You mean the same Google account? Absolutely. Hell, I've had FAR more than two on two networks attached to my account--dozens, everything I've ever reviewed basically. Plus tablets, Galaxy Players, everything, all working at once.

That could work out well. PP doesn't offer much data but I could always sync via wifi at home.

Based on a quick search, Droid 3s aren't showing up much yet but 2s seem to abound.

    Indeed yes.

Not only that, you don't have to re input your contacts, since logging in on the second phone with your Google account means all your contacts and gmail will automatically sync down your second. Apps purchased on the first phone will now be marked free for download on the second. Be sure that your first phone is set to backup into your Google account. This is found in Settings or when you first set up the device where you will be asked on this option.

You can operate multiple devices on the same account. The contacts on every device will be mirror synced across each other. You make a change in one device, and it will eventually reflect on all devices (its not immediate though happens soon enough). Any paid app you purchased on any device, will be marked purchased on the Play Store on another device, which means you are free to download it on your second or multiple devices.
