Almost lost in the ruckus surrounding the announcement of the iPhone 5 was the unveiling of a new iPod touch. As always, this handheld will be very similar to Apple's latest smartphone, just without the phone.

The article mistakenly says this is the first time an iPod Touch has had 64GB memory. That isn't true. You'll find the older models with 64GB in Apple's refurb shop and places like Amazon still.

Indeed, I have owned three generations of iPod Touches with 64Gb. Right from the beginning there was already a 64Gb model. I stopped upgrading after the 3rd generation, when it was starting to become obvious it was more or less the same. Simple age would have made me want to upgrade my current device because it can only hold out so long, but the new connector on the 5th gen means I cannot use it on my car's factory stereo unit that has an iPod connector without a clumsy and expensive new connector. The price of the 64GB remains at $399 for all these generations, which may have made sense one day long ago but not today. I think I may just recycle one of my older Android tablets or smartphones into a music player instead.

The iPad Mini is part of a completely separate set of rumors. We're still expecting Apple to introduce a tablet with an 8-inch display next month. You can read more about the device, and see some pictures, in this article on TabletPCReview.

in one of the BH articles it is stated that the new iPhone will use the A6 processor; the iPod Touch article says this:
