Nokia Lumia 920 & Lumia 820 Preview Discussion

Earlier today, Nokia unveiled its first two Windows Phone handsets, the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820. But later on, the Finnish phone company and Microsoft teamed up to hold an event an in New York City where the new smartphones were on display. Brighthand was on the scene to get a glimpse of the devices firsthand, and although some aspects of the new operating system were still under wraps, we got to see the Nokia hardware in action, and we were impressed with what we saw.

THANK YOU for this detailed, substantive review, particularly for the focus on your personal experience with the camera. After the OIS ad scandal, I've been holding my breath to see whether (1) Nokia made false claims about the Lumia 920's camera, or (2) whether they "framed a guilty man" and the camera could actually do what was claimed in the ad, even though the ad didn't feature actual Lumia 920 footage.

Based on your review, it sounds like the Lumia 920 is the real deal.

The augmented reality stuff doesn't interest me because I doubt any of it works in small-city Oregon, and the wireless charging seems gimmicky to me, but overall, even though I spent the afternoon alternating between "pissed at Nokia" and "laughing at Nokia" over the OIS ad debacle, I have to say, I want this device.

But I'll forgo the glossy, finger-print-magnet yellow, and go for a sexy matte black:
