Good. I've never understood why Sony phones were so rare on US carriers. Their hardware has an attractive, unique look, and generally speaking I've had good experiences with Sony hardware (including a Vaio laptop and a Bravia TV).
Samsung Galaxy S III (U.S. Cellular, unrooted, Launcher8). My review.
Sony VAIO Duo 11 (i3-3217U, 11.6" 1080p IPS, N-Trig stylus, Windows 8). My video review; handwriting test.
    Sony VAIO F2390X (i7-2670QM, 540M, 16.4" 1080p, Windows 7 Pro). My video review.

That's another good-looking phone. Weirdly though, the picture of the back makes it look like it has a subtle concavity from the back, with a convexly curved screen. Maybe an optical illusion or the lighting.

The curve on the back is real, but I believe the glass is flat. Here's a side view:

It's a good question. I haven't had much experience with Sony hardware in years, but I own their SE Xperia X1 and X2 smartphones, and they're not just well built, but were vastly ahead of their times. Now that I think of that, that's true of a lot of Sony hardware, going all the way back to the NX-80 that I have fond memories of reviewing for this place--although back then, we were called BargainPDA, since we hadn't bought out the old Brighthand yet.

In any event, Sony does definitely produce good hardware. As for why it's not as available on US carriers, I could only guess. They might have a bias towards producing for the international market, where carriers are less demanding. As a rule there aren't as many expectations in Europe and Asia as to exclusivity, and being able to get custom software and hardware packages. Or it might simply be that they haven't aggressively marketed to the US enough. Big companies can sometimes behave in shockingly shortsighted ways, ignoring opportunities simply because they're not in line with the usual business model.

Wow, thanks Mitlov. I'm not so sure a concave back like that would feel all that comfortable. I think I'd press the phone harder against my head. Maybe not.

I have a chance to examine the Xperia S during my trips. That is one solid feeling phone, even though the body is just plastic. It feels like a brick, which is an improvement over the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Arc S. The Arc and Neo series by the way, also exhibit the curve back. Their screens are also absolutely gorgeous. I was tempted to pick one up, as the prices have come down and were pretty good for no contract phones, but the specs were already outdated, even though the phone has a live Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Xperia T is the non Japanese version of the Xperia GX. The Xperia GX has almost the same number as the leaked Docomo document that reveals the possible existence of the Xperia Nexus.

For better or worst, my wife actually owns two Sony Vaios which helped serve her professional needs all through these years. She however, just bought herself a Samsung Series 9 ultrabook.

My brother did buy an Xperia X10. Battery life aside, it was a surprisingly good phone, despite the outdated Android version and the "Nexus" interface (Sony abandoned calling its UI that after the "true" Nexus came out). He's using a Samsung now though.

My main Sony hardware is the first generation PS3. It has gone through a lot of games with me over the years. This thing is really built.

The Xperia T aka GX, excites more than any of the stuff Nokia and Motorola announced yesterday.

Just for kicks, I'm looking to pick up a Sony Vaio P-series. Anyone know how well they're made?

Those things seem too pricey, not to mention dated, when compared to netbooks now.
