Default AT&T Responds to Complaints about its FaceTime Policy Discussion

AT&T has drawn complaints from some subscribers and pundits for its decision to block those who are on its grandfathered unlimited data plan from using the FaceTime video chat app over its cellular-wireless network.

This is a slightly different take on what I've read elsewhere. Other sources say it's not just grandfathered unlimited plans that can't use FT (your article mentions that but then says it will be restricted to group plans). Some say that other 'fixed data' will also be prevented from using FT. I'm not sure why ATT cares that much, since they throttle 'unlimited' plans anyway.

Is it safe to assume that FT will continue to operate as always when one is within range of available Wifi?
Experience is what you get when you thought you were getting something else.

Yes, ATT verified that. They're pitching the policy as a way to 'save' their network and parcel it out fairly.

By parcel, you mean take from my wallet, and place into their account?

Yeah. And "share" means pay more for the same amount of stuff (It's your money being shared with the carrier). We probably need a Babelfish translator for Carrier Speak.

I wasn't AGREEING with their logic, only repeating what the spokesman had said to the Times (which is pretty clear in what I wrote). Are you trying to be obnoxious and start an argument? I was only responding to what Lelisa asked. I don't think it's 'fair' either. Our country (USA) seems to get worse and worse as far as cell service; while nearly everyone else gets better.

Nowhere did I hint at, or say anything to the sort of agree or not. Put a safety on your trigger finger.

I merely used parcel in a way to demonstrate the absurdity of the corporate greed shown here. I'm so glad I don't have AT&T or VZW as my carrier. If I did, they'd be getting a service termination notice, and I'd be finding something else.

Anyone who thinks this is fair, right, or just, is off their rocker. Or, they have a financially vested interest in the company. Screw the customer, make zillions of dollars. That's corporate America.

It wasn't my trigger finger; but the accusatory way that came across. As someone whose tone is often questioned, I thought your comment was overly aggressive, considering there was little context.
