    Default AT&T Prepares a Long Goodbye for its 2G EDGE Network Discussion

    AT&T is preparing to eliminate its entire 2G network by 2017, according to a recent quarterly filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. The spectrum used by the old 2G network, called EDGE, will be repurposed for 3G and 4G users.

    I would bet good money that AT&T is going to be one of the last carriers to still have a 2G network. Around my very rural neck of the woods, Verizon has had 3G for at least five years now, but AT&T is still stubbornly 2G.
