True. But the reason that sales are usually measured year-over-year is because seasonal things can affect sales levels. For instance, almost any kind of consumer goods will sell better around the holiday season than they will in the middle of summer. Likewise, high tech devices will probably suffer quarter-over-quarter when you haven't had a release in awhile, or people are anticipating the next generation device.

Not only that, people are anticipating the iPhone 5. The analysts were just overly optimistic, which can be quite harmful. Plus, Apple's messing with the intro schedule (in the past, the new iPhone would have come out at the end of June/early July).
