This article is a little strange, or perhaps the reactions quoted are. To immediately jump to asking how is it going to compete with the big players without establishing that that is what they are going to try to do seems just silly. This is a small company with 50 employees in Finland. They might actually do okay carving out a couple of niche geekphone markets. They may not need to compete with iOS or Android to succeed. Until one knows what their business model is, which will define what success means, it is hard to judge.

LG Nexus 4: AT&T (Gophone), Android 4.4.2, stock and unrooted-- and probably staying that way.

Every US review I've read of the 808 Pureview says it's the world's best smartphone camera tied with the worst operating system they've seen in a long time. I don't see that a start-up company built around a painfully-outdated OS has much chance of success. I wish them the best of luck, but I don't see this going anywhere.

Samsung Galaxy S III (U.S. Cellular, unrooted, Launcher8). My review.
Sony VAIO Duo 11 (i3-3217U, 11.6" 1080p IPS, N-Trig stylus, Windows 8). My video review; handwriting test.
    Sony VAIO F2390X (i7-2670QM, 540M, 16.4" 1080p, Windows 7 Pro). My video review.

The pureview uses Symbian, not Meego. I'm not saying they'll succeed, I'm saying we don't know what success means if we don't know their business model. They certainly aren't going after iOS and Android, but Meego was always a geek niche.

My bad, I thought Meego was a version of Symbian (like "Mango" for WP7 or "Jelly Bean" for Android), not a separate OS.
