    Default Nokia Lumia 900 vs. HTC Titan II vs. Samsung Focus 2 Discussion

    AT&T has gotten a lot of love as far as Windows Phone handsets go, with most of them being available, often exclusively so, to the carrier's subscribers. Sure enough, we've gotten our hands on three major Windows Phone releases within the past few months, and they're all exclusively available on the AT&T 4G LTE network: the Nokia Lumia 900, the HTC Titan II, and the Samsung Focus 2.

    The conclusion seems odd. Unless cost is the overriding factor (and again, it's negligible over the life of a contract), the HTC seems to be the big winner. Better camera, faster, 2nd best screen, nicest looking and best format, etc. I don't have a dog in the fight; but the evidence seems pretty clear.

    One factor not mentioned that weighs in favor of the Lumia 900: customer support. Nokia is one of the most responsive about fixing bugs and glitches (compare their immediate response to the Lumia 900 data issue, complete with payments for people who had issues during the first ~4 days before the patch was released, with HTC's foot-dragging on the Titan I voice quality issue).

    Another: exclusive apps. Nokias get exclusive WP games and seriously useful apps (like Nokia Drive, from what I've heard, the best navigation app out there). HTC gets...um..."HTC Hub," a laggy, android-inspired app that includes weather, stocks, and RSS feed screens (all somewhat rudimentary).

    Combine that with a seriously awesome case design and a gorgeous screen, and unless you want to spend $150 more for a better camera, it seems like the winner for me.

    I've felt a Nokia Lumia 900 in my hand. It feels bulky, big for its size vs screen ratio, and the sharp corners bite into the palm. I'm not impressed with the way it felt versus many HTC phones (the One V is especially nice). Even the Nokia N9 felt better on the hand. The Galaxy S3 and the One X had bigger screens but both felt lighter and much nicer in the hand.

    I was just going by what was in the review. I don't much care, as I'm unlikely to want any of the 3; but from the evidence provided, I think the HTC comes away sounding the best. But I have liked Nokia phones in the past.

    @Varjak

    As I stated in the review, the processor is essentially a wash. The Titan II may have slightly better numbers on paper, but in reality, there's virtually no difference between that of the Lumia 900 and the Titan II. Concerning the design, while I personally enjoyed the Titan II much more (Drillbit: I, too, found the Lumia 900 to be very uncomfortable), I admit that it was bold of Nokia to try something different and that many people seem enamored with it. The only really obvious edge that the Titan II has is the camera. The Lumia 900, meanwhile, has a better screen, is more affordable (especially in light of its recent price drop), and provided me with better battery performance. It's close, but the evidence is clear that the Lumia 900 has a little more going for it, at least in my opinion.
