BB on the block? I heard HP has a plan for ailing smartphone companies...
I think it has something to do with Aphotheker, or was that Kavorkian?

The people I know who like BB and still want to stay with it (increasingly a tough choice), are holding off buying a phone. I don't know if they'll last until October (a best case scenario itself).

I heard that Ariana Huffington of the Huffington Post is distressed about the fate of Blackberry, she being an owner of at least four of them. She should buy a case load so she can keep using it for perpetuity (there was a tycoon who can't stand today's mobile devices, and keeps a case load of Nokia 1100s for himself).

Re: RIM's Huge Backlog of Unsold BlackBerrys Adds to Its Woes Discussion
It always amazes me the differences in what people prefer. I absolutely hate my work issued BlackBerry Bold. Even aside from the issues of it being so locked down, which is not BB's fault, I find it excruciatingly hard to type on. The keyboard is awful. The keys are too small. Even when I am slow and careful I sometimes have to type my password multiple times to unlock it (which I have to do often). You ahve to hit Alt for each single shift character you want hit, including numbers-- you can only get a numpad if you are making a phone call. Given this, the high inaccuracy of typing and the poor editing tools, I've gotten to the point where, with few exceptions, when I get an email I jot a quick "I'll get back to you" (meaning, when I get to a real keyboard) and send off the reply.
In contrast, with Swype on my 5" Galaxy Player, I'm writing paragraphs in email very fast and with few errors. I'm even faster on my 3.7" Nexus One. In portrait.
I understand the appeal of BBs as a great way to get and *read* email, but I find it so much easier to type on a touchscreen compared to a BB keyboard.Hook's Stories
