Can the Samsung Galaxy Note Replace Your Tablet? Discussion
Mobile technology has certainly improved our ability to be productive (and entertained!) on the go, but that doesn't mean that it can't also weigh us down. Mobile devices come with accessories and chargers, and you have to carry them around in something too. And while an iPad or an Android Tablet can be a portable powerhouse that allows you to leave your laptop at home, wouldn't it be nice to carry even less?

my vote for Samsung Galaxy Note
I own it and I am completely satisfied with it
I own iPad and I found myself using it less and less, since I got my Samsung Galaxy Note

Re: Can the Galaxy Note Replace Your Tablet? Discussion
As you conclude, it's really not a 'fair' comparison. The ultimate decision is largely governed by what you end up using it for the most. I don't think many buy the Note just to be a tablet, they buy it as a phone that also gives better than average use as a video viewer, work platform, etc. I've noted that in the TV ads, they make the Note look 'small' when used in one hand; but quite large when held in landscape mode to view videos (it looks like an iPad in those shots).
One nitpick: you spell accommodate 'accomodate' in your piece. That's a pet peeve of mine.

Re: Can the Galaxy Note Replace Your Tablet? Discussion
I have a Samsung Infuse for general portable use. Not too big to take on a run, like the Note would be, imo. That's about as big a phone as would seem practical for use everywhere. I have large hands, but the Note is a tablet, not a phone. For a tablet I prefer a screen large enough for easy text entry using my finger a pen. My ExoPC's 11.6" screen is about right for that, and about right for movies and browsing and email too. And it's slim & light enough to throw into a bag if I want something bigger/more powerful than a phone with me. A 7" tablet like my kid uses is practical for some things, but I get claustrophobic after a while... Just not seeing the Note as a meaningful compromise.

Re: Can the Samsung Galaxy Note Replace Your Tablet? Discussion
The original Galaxy Tab was fairly successful in many emerging countries like the Philippines because not only is it a tablet, it is actually a 7" smartphone. You can directly place calls and SMS with it. Without the ability to do the phone like things, especially texting, the second generation Tabs weren't so successful in those areas. (My theory is that this fusion of phone and tablet is the germ for the Note concept).
The Note fills that gap for the original Galaxy Tab, although due to high demand and cutting edge technology, its fairly pricey. Those looking for texting tablets are still finding them in the original Tab which you can get pretty low prices off bazaars nowadays.I am @guamguy on Twitter.

Re: Can the Samsung Galaxy Note Replace Your Tablet? Discussion
I find the Note a pain when I'm not using it e.g. carrying it around in my pocket, the way I look at it is, if I have to carry a bag around with a tablet in it, I might as well carry a bag around with my notebook in it.

Re: Can the Samsung Galaxy Note Replace Your Tablet? Discussion
No. My tablet is an Asus Transformer Prime, and without the keyboard dock I wouldn't even buy a tablet. The keyboard makes it usable, and adds little weight/bulk while adding about 10 hours of battery life. It replaces my notebook almost entirely, and I wouldn't give it up for a bare tablet of any size.

I need to get a keyboard dock for my Prime. Seems like a good idea.

That Trans. Prime, just seems incredibly awesome. But how much better (if at all) is the successor Infinity?
