This update isn't just for ICS. My stock EVO Shift with Gingerbread just downloaded and installed this from Play. Confirmed version 6.5.

Re: Google Maps for Android Gets Updated to 6.5 Discussion
It crashes on my Asus Transformer Prime every time I run it. It comes up with the wrong location, then crashes.
After trying many things, I got it to run by deleting all data, which didn't actually delete the data. After deleting data, Maps recognized that there was a new update installed, and restarted, and worked. Forcing it to stop didn't actually stop it, apparently. I did that a number of times without any result. One would think that Google, the originator of Android, would be able to actually write programs that adhere to the Android specs. Apparently that isn't the case, however. It seems that the Google apps can't be killed by normal means, they just keep on living as zombies.Last edited by SGosnell; 03-29-2012 at 03:03 PM.

Re: Google Maps for Android Gets Updated to 6.5 Discussion
I got it from the Play Market and it worked fine on my Samsung Player. It actually offered, for the first time, to allow me to correct my location (my house) which has always shown up a block away from where it actually is. I always figured it might be useful if a serial killer is looking for me, but I went ahead and corrected it anyway.

I have some Samsung version of Google Maps. When I go to the Play Store from my phone, I can't even find Google Maps -- it doesn't show up. From my PC, it shows as not compatible.

Re: Google Maps for Android Gets Updated to 6.5 Discussion
I did activate the Samsung App Store, and occasionally use it, to see if it will let me install apps that the Play Store won't. Still, I got the new version of Maps on my Galaxy Player stright from the Play Store. Same on my Galaxy Mini: Samsung store activated, but got the 6.5 update too.
Jig, I'm sure you must have already restored the screen density to default, rebooted, cleared Store's data, etc? The 6.5 update didn't show on my Player (and showed as incompatible on my PC) until I did so.raspabalsa

You're suggesting I follow my own advice?

I'll give it a shot later today. Thanks!

Re: Google Maps for Android Gets Updated to 6.5 Discussion
It looks like setting screen density back to 240 did the trick, Raspy! Now, why didn't I think of that?
Must be denial syndrome: "Oh, it can't be because I did something!"
I guess while I'm doing this, I might as well update the other 9 apps Play Store says need updating.
