I'm still a huge fan of MessagEase (aka ME), which I've used since my m130 days. in fact, having MessagEase for my Droid X made the transition easier. The Android app is free (I paid for the TX version, but it was well worth it) and offers a lot of advantages over the standard keyboard -- not having tried SlideIT I can't offer a direct comparison. For anyone interested, here's the link for the app:

and here's the link for the 'game' (to allow you to gain proficiency):

it's also available for iDevices; and, not to scare anyone off, but here's an example of the ME keyboard.

It seems expensive for what it is, though ($7).

Input via something like Slide It is THE way to go.
I absolutely love it.
However, I use Swype.
Slide It is almost great.
It has several features that I find much better than Swype.
It's been a few months since I tried Slide It, but I found it stupid.
No, I'm not meaning in a senseless, insulting way.
I mean literally.
It just wasn't very smart in predicting what my little finger-wiggles were trying to say.
Swype can give you the craziest words if you get too careless - I am amused (easily) on a daily basis.
But even being careful, my personal experience with Slide It was not very helpful. Hopefully it's AI has been improved since. If so, I'd be ready to switch, but my new phone has Swype built in.
(My old phone, I had the Swype beta).
It may well depend on the user, but I would recommend trying both.Palmist 1996 - 2011

I seem to remember a similar system (I can't recall for what platform), which used a quadrant system, and then a way for choosing the letters/symbol in each quadrant. It sounded good; but in the end, I wondered about its efficacy.
