Lol, I read the tittle thinking they were testing a processor with 16 cores. They don't even have 8 core processors in laptops yet.

They really are testing processors with 16 cores. But this is very early research -- they are looking ahead by years and years.

So would you say there is any chance that the next iPhone has 16 cores? I'm just hoping it supports voip calls because I am sick of paying for my long distance

    Thanks

Given that a new iPhone will be released later this year, NO.
Experience is what you get when you thought you were getting something else.

Do we even have any quad-core phones on the US market yet? I'm talking carrier-subsidized phones, not unlocked phones from Amazon or direct from the manufacturer.
Samsung Galaxy S III (U.S. Cellular, unrooted, Launcher8). My review.
Sony VAIO Duo 11 (i3-3217U, 11.6" 1080p IPS, N-Trig stylus, Windows 8). My video review; handwriting test.
    Sony VAIO F2390X (i7-2670QM, 540M, 16.4" 1080p, Windows 7 Pro). My video review.

    Possibly, according to this thread:

    Google (ASUS) Nexus 7, wifi+data (AT&T), Android 4.2.2, stock and un-rooted (so far )
LG Nexus 4: AT&T (Gophone), Android 4.4.2, stock and unrooted-- and probably staying that way.
